A Grade Grand Final
HWC ANI def Claremont RSL Gold (3 - 2)
In a major turn up HWC-ANI def Claremont Gold in this years A Grade STBSA Grand Final. Claremont Gold were the front runners all year but were beaten on the night with HWC ANI making some surprising and decisive changes to their playing line up and order to stop the "Gold" from making it four (4) premierships in a row. HWC ANI placed normal No 1 Billiards player Rob McCauley into the No 3 Snooker spot and Kerry Cordwell into the No 1 Billiards spot, these moves proved to be match winners with the Grand Final coming down to the last game of the night with Rob McCauley playing Jason Featherstone, Rob won this match 2 - 0 and the HWC ANI were our 2012 premiers. Gregg Watt proved to be to far strong for Kerry Cordwell in the No 1 Billiards game and Les Higgins was a strong winner in the No 1 Snooker game for Gold against Phil Bailey. Once again Mick Pollard got the better of Luke Webb in the second billiards game with Luke storming home but just running out of time. The winner of the Willis/Higgins MVP was Jeremy Cowie who had a great game against Phil Woodham coming back from 1 down to win his match 2 - 1 to help "ANI" to a memorable win. The committee of the STBSA would like to thank all the committee & members of the Claremont RSL for their continued support of Biliards & Snooker in Southern Tasmania, to all the supporters who attended and to
John Matthewson, Basil Claridge, Steve Carroll, Dennis Watts and Wayne Stokes who all helped out with umpiring on the night.

2012 "B" Grade Billiards Champion
Roger Smith
Despite the difficulties early on, the championship was a great success.Roger made it a double by winning the event by also scoring the highest break. The final was quite enthralling in that for 116 minutes of the match Matt White led - sometimes by a considerable margin - only to be overtaken with less than four minutes remaining. Matt played some outstanding billiards and was a worthy opponent; full credit to him.

Awesome Display by the World 8 Ball Champion - Mick Hill
On Monday night dual World 8 Ball Champion Mick Hill played a roster game of Power Snooker for the HWC Chelle's against the Glenorchy RSL, Mick is in Tasmania doing his exhibition shows and had a free night, so at the invitation of the HWC Chelle's came along and played in his 1st ever game of Power Snooker. He scored an amazing 889 points in the 30 minute match, which included two century breaks - 120 & 108, his score also include 150 bonus points for making consecutive century breaks (50 & 100) he also had breaks of 82, 78 & 76. In the 30 minutes of the match 5 frames were completed and they got to the pink in the 6th frame when the bell went to end the match, so nearly 6 frames in an 1/2 hour was great going, nearly a frame every five minutes. The Glenorchy RSL players were more than happy for Mick to play and his unlucky opponent (yours truly who scored 89) enjoyed watching and playing against him
. As well as Mick, Paul Hancock a multiple Australian 8 Ball team member & current Australian Masters Champion also played a match against Mozzie Keating,
Paul won his match 332 - 74. A great night and a great display of Power Snooker.
